The Nutrisystem Diet

What You Can Eat and What You Can't

My Grocery List with Nutrisystem #NSNation
For example, the roast turkey meal includes a vegetable medley, and the glazed chicken tenders include green beans. Other vegetables, such as carrots, squash and turnips must be eaten in specific quantities as a vegetable serving. Each day, you eat a Nutrisystem breakfast , lunch, dinner, and dessert. But it fills you up quickly. Most of the Nutrisystem plans, such as the women's Nutrisystem Basic and the men's Nutrisystem Basic, allow you to have one fruit with breakfast, one fruit with a snack and your choice of one fruit or vegetable with dinner.

You go to nutrisystem. I have no desire to record it. I have to go exercise and I am prolonging it until after this quick post. Mushrooms, onions, and asparagus are unlimited veggies. But it fills you up quickly. I spent about 50 calories or so and I am full. So I cut everything up and put it in a skillet. Then, I sprayed the Pam on top of the veggies and viola! A great unlimited food snack.

Well, I will write more later. Week eleven was slow. I didn't loose any pounds. I heard there would be weeks like this. My body was hitting a Plateau, I think. So the next week I stepped it up a bit. More food that is. I have been reading on the Nutrisystem website and found out that I'm not actually doing everything I should be doing. I figured the meals they sent me would be enough and maybe a veggie with it and some snacks between.

Well, according to them, I'm not getting enough food. I suppose to have a couple power snacks and a couple smartcarb snacks between my meals. I'm also suppose to be getting at least 4 servings of veggies a day. WOW that's a lot of food if you ask me. They have a list of all the foods they recommend me eat between my meals.

I may not get all that in each day but I am working on getting at least 4 veggies mixed in somehow. I can put my Nutrisystem microwavable lunches in there, plug it in when I get to work in the mornings and by lunch time, I have a warm prepared meal ready to eat. I can stuff veggies in with it if I'd like and they will soften up just in time.

This little warmer does not cook so I can't add raw meats to it but it works fine for everything else. You hardly have to cook, since most Nutrisystem foods either are ready to eat or only need heating. But some items that you buy from the grocery store, like vegetables and fish, may involve more preparation.

Nutrisystem suggests you get at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily. You can break this up into three minute periods throughout the day. There are meal plans for vegetarians and people with diabetes. But the program does not have plans for people following a vegan diet. And it doesn't allow for certain food allergies including soy or peanut allergies , and it's not gluten-free. The cost varies based on things like the plan you choose -- such as for women or men, vegetarians, older adults, or people with diabetes.

The program has an online community and web-based tools, as well as help by phone. You may face a challenge when you go off the program and have to make more food choices on your own. The program provides information on how to do this. Controlling calories and portions and eating regular meals is a healthy formula that should result in weight loss while on the plan. It can be harder to make the transition to eating "real food" when you get closer to your weight-loss goal and don't rely on meals already made for you.

Overall the diet is healthy for people with conditions like heart disease , high blood pressure , high cholesterol , and diabetes. Meals are low in sodium, saturated fats , and trans fats , and include high-fiber whole grains, smart carbs, healthy fats , lean protein, and a wide variety of foods.
